PHNOM PENH, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's oldest English daily newspaper, The Phnom Penh Post, on Friday ended its print publication due to severe financial difficulties.

In a front-page article printed in its final publication on Friday, The Post said as the oldest English language newspaper in Cambodia, it had served as the world's window on Cambodia since 1992.

"The staff at The Post are proud to have played their part in keeping Cambodia - and the world - informed for the past 32 years," the article said.

In a public notice on March 1, The Post said it decided to cease the print publication of the newspaper, both the English and Khmer editions, from March 29 due to severe financial difficulties caused by a decline in advertizing revenues because of a pandemic-related economic downturn.

It said despite its shareholders' efforts to inject more funds and to generate income by all means, the company still could not continue to bear losses.

With The Post's cessation, there will be only one remaining English daily newspaper in the Southeast Asian country - Khmer Times. Enditem
