DHAKA, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's foreign exchange reserves have dropped by 533.82 million U.S. dollars in just a week, the country's central bank data showed.

The decline occurred as the Bangladesh Bank sold U.S. dollars to commercial banks to a large extent, local media reported, citing the banking regulator's data.

According to the central bank data, the South Asian country's foreign currency reserves were recorded at 19.45 billion dollars on Wednesday, a decrease from 19.98 billion dollars on March 20.

In early March, the reserves stood above 21 billion dollars, but the amount later went below 19 billion dollars due to a 1.35 billion dollars payment to the Asian Clearing Union and ongoing U.S. dollar sales to banks. Enditem
