JAKARTA, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Ngurah Rai International Airport in Indonesia's Bali island has added a flight route to and from India via Bengaluru in Karnataka State, said the airport's General Manager Handy Heryudhitiawan.

The first landing of the IndiGo airline arrived in Bali on Friday at 9:30 a.m. local time, carrying 183 passengers, and took off again for Bengaluru at 11:20 a.m. local time with 162 passengers.

"For us, India is an emerging market, and we hope that the addition of this route will make it easier for Indians who want to visit Bali," said Heryudhitiawan.

From January to February, 67,979 Indian tourists traveled to Bali, ranking the third place after Australia and China.

The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry noted that 606,000 Indian tourists had visited Indonesia in 2023. The country hopes to raise the figure to 679,000 in 2024. Enditem
