CAIRO -- The foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, and France met in Cairo on Saturday to discuss joint efforts at resolving the humanitarian crisis in the besieged Gaza Strip and finding a lasting solution to the decades-long Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Jordanian and French counterparts, Ayman Safadi and Stephane Sejourne, called for "an immediate and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of all hostages and detainees," according to a joint statement released by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry. KHARTOUM -- At least 16 civilians were killed in attacks by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on villages in central Sudan, the Wad Madani Resistance Committee announced on Saturday.

"The RSF attacked the village of Wad Abu Amna (in Gezira State) in central Sudan, killing 11 people and injuring 16 others," the committee said in a statement. (Sudan-Conflict)

RIYADH -- The Saudi Tourism Ministry announced on Saturday that the kingdom witnessed a record-high spending by inbound visitors in 2023, totaling 135 billion Saudi Riyals (36 billion U.S. dollars).

In a post on the social media platform X, the ministry said the figure marked a notable increase of 42.8 percent compared to 2022, when inbound visitors spent 94.5 billion Saudi Riyals.

Meanwhile, the spending of the kingdom's outbound visitors rose to 86.9 billion Saudi Riyals in 2023, up from the 59.7 billion Saudi Riyals in 2022. (Saudi Arabia-Visitors-Spending)

RAMALLAH -- The Israeli army on Saturday killed a Palestinian teenager, and wounded two others in the West Bank city of Jenin, Palestinian medical sources said.

The sources, who require anonymity, told Xinhua that 13-year-old Mutasim Abu Abed was hit by live bullets in the town of Qabatiya, south of Jenin. (Israel-West Bank-Conflict) Enditem
