ISLAMABAD, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's inflation measured by the consumer price index (CPI) reached its lowest point in 23 months as it increased to 20.7 percent year-on-year in March, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said Monday.
This is the lowest inflation recorded since May 2022 when it stood at 13.76 percent.
The figure is compared to the 35.4 percent reported in March 2023.
The statistics showed that urban and rural inflation in March edged up 1.4 percent and 2.1 percent on a month-on-month basis, respectively.
Last week, in its monthly economic assessment report, the finance ministry projected CPI-based inflation in the South Asian country to hover around 22.5 percent to 23.5 percent in March this year. Enditem
