HANOI, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam looks to import around 5,000 MW of electricity from Laos by 2030, according to its roadmap for national electricity development plan implementation for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, local media reported on Wednesday.

The imported power capacity could increase to 8,000 MW in favorable conditions with reasonable prices, Vietnam News Agency reported.

The roadmap identifies Vietnam's central and southern regions as potential areas for serving renewable energy exports, with export scales ranging from 5,000 MW to 10,000 MW for feasible projects.

By 2030, the total capacities of offshore wind, onshore wind, and biomass power in Vietnam will be 6,000 MW, 21,880 MW, and 1,088 MW, respectively.

Electricity generated from waste will be 1,182 MW, while the additional capacity of rooftop solar power will be 2,600 MW. Enditem
