LUSAKA, April 3 (Xinhua) -- At least 32 people were killed and 59 others seriously injured in 338 road accidents recorded during the Easter holiday in Zambia, the police said.

This is higher than the 24 people who died in 208 accidents during the same period last year.

Rae Hamoonga, the police spokesperson, attributed the accidents to human errors such as misjudging clearance distance, excessive speed, failing to obey traffic signs and cutting, among others.

"The record shows an increase in both fatal traffic accidents and persons killed," he said in a statement.

The police spokesperson further said 78 road accidents were recorded as slight accidents in which 91 people were slightly injured. Enditem
