KIEV, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine's largest private energy company DTEK lost 80 percent of its generating capacities due to Russian attacks, the Ukrayinska Pravda media outlet reported Wednesday, citing the company's press release.

It said the missile and drone strikes on March 22 and March 29 have severely damaged five out of six DTEK's thermal power plants (TPP).

"The situation is extremely difficult," the company said.

Founded in 2005, the DTEK is the largest private investor in Ukraine's energy industry. It operates TPPs, as well as the largest solar and wind power plants in Ukraine.

Last year, DTEK's power-generating facilities produced about 15.2 billion kWh of electricity, which is equivalent to the average annual consumption of about 5.1 million households. Enditem
