Saudi Arabia registers 70 new archaeological sites

RIYADH, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia announced Wednesday the registration of 70 new archaeological sites in the National Antiquities Register.

The new sites bring the total number of registered sites across the Kingdom to 8,917, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

According to the country's Heritage Commission, the registration process involves a series of steps. It commences with the site's discovery and subsequent evaluation by specialists to confirm its archaeological significance, ending with the preparation and writing of necessary scientific and technical reports.

The new archaeological sites spread in various regions of the Kingdom. Asir Region accounts for the highest number, 14 sites, followed by Al-Jouf Region with 13, and Hail Region with 12. Enditem
