ADEN, Yemen -- A total of 21 people were killed Wednesday in intense armed confrontations between Yemen's government forces and the Houthi group in the country's southern province of Lahj, said a military official.

The military source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said ferocious armed confrontations erupted on the Shurayjah front in the north of Lahj, where the government forces and the Houthi militants exchanged artillery fire and shelling. (Yemen-Armed Confrontation-Casualty)

GAZA -- The Palestinian death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip has risen to 32,975, the Hamas-run Health Ministry said in a press statement on Wednesday.

BEIRUT -- A Hezbollah fighter was killed and two civilians wounded on Wednesday in Israeli air strikes in southern Lebanon, Lebanese military sources told Xinhua.

The military sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said casualties were caused by Israeli air strikes in three villages in the eastern and central regions. The strikes also resulted in the destruction of five houses and damage to 30 others. (Lebanon-Israel-Deaths)

JERUSALEM -- Israel's military announced Wednesday that it was reinforcing its aerial defense system with reserve soldiers amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran.
