PHUKET, Thailand, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian lifter Rizki Juniansyah set a new world record for the men's 73kg category at the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Cup here on Thursday.

The 20-year-old lifted 164kg in the snatch and 201kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 365kg, beating the previous world record of 364kg set by China's Shi Zhiyong at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Shi, two-time Olympic gold medalist, won the gold in the snatch by lifting 165kg in his third attempt. But he only managed to lift 191kg in the clean and jerk, finishing with a total of 356kg to add another silver medal.

The IWF World Cup in Phuket runs until April 11 and serves as a qualifying event for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Enditem
