HANOI -- Vietnam's import turnover of completely built-up (CBU) cars in March increased by 55.4 percent in volume and 41.4 percent in value compared to the previous month, Vietnam News reported Friday.

Vietnam imported about 15,000 CBU cars in March with a value of 287 million U.S. dollars, according to the General Statistics Office. (Vietnam-Car Import)

SINGAPORE -- The seasonally adjusted S&P Global Singapore Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) posted 55.7 in March, marking the Singaporean private business condition's continued improving for 12 straight months, according to the latest data from the S&P Global.

Demand conditions further improved in March with incoming new orders for goods and services rising for a 15th straight month and at the fastest pace since last May, S&P noted in its report. (Singapore-Economy-PMI)

TOKYO -- Japan's household spending fell by 0.5 percent in February from a year earlier, down for the 12th straight month as consumption remained sluggish, government data showed on Friday.

Households of two or more people spent an average of 279,868 yen (about 1,850 U.S. dollars), narrowing from the 6.3-percent fall in January, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. (Japan-Household Spending-February)

WASHINGTON -- The Board Coordinators of the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced Thursday that the current managing director of the IMF, Kristalina Georgieva, is the only candidate for the position.
