ADEN, Yemen, April 7 (Xinhua) -- A missile landed near a commercial vessel in the Gulf of Aden on Sunday, but no damage or injuries were reported, according to Britain's Maritime Trade Operations agency.

The agency, which monitors maritime security incidents, said the master of the unidentified vessel reported that "a missile impacted the water in close proximity to the vessel's port quarter," approximately 59 nautical miles southwest of the Yemeni port city of Aden.

"No damage to the vessel reported and crew reported safe," the agency said in a brief statement, without providing further details.

Since November 2023, the Houthi rebel group in Yemen has been conducting military operations targeting ships in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a critical maritime chokepoint. The Houthis claim these naval attacks are aimed at vessels linked to Israel or heading to Israeli ports. Enditem
