TOKYO -- Japan's average monthly wages in inflation-adjusted terms logged the 23rd straight month of decline in February as price increases continued to outpace nominal earnings growth, official data showed on Monday.

Inflation-adjusted real wages, a barometer of consumer purchasing power, fell 1.3 percent from the same month last year, according to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. (Japan-Real Wages-February)

SEOUL -- South Korea's jobless claims fell last month due to lower demand in the education service, the manufacturing and the wholesale and retail sectors, labor ministry data showed Monday.

The number of new applicants for job-seeking benefits stood at 130,800 in March, down 9.1 percent from the same month of last year, according to the Ministry of Employment and Labor. (South Korea-Jobless)

SEOUL -- Foreign investors bought South Korean stocks for the fifth consecutive month in March due to the government's ban on stock short-selling, financial watchdog data showed Monday.

Foreigners acquired a net 5.1 trillion won (3.8 billion U.S. dollars) worth of domestic listed stocks in March, remaining net buyers since November 2023, according to the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS). (South Korea-Stock Investment-March)

TOKYO -- Japan logged a current account surplus of 2.64 trillion yen (about 17.4 billion U.S. dollars) in February, said a government report on Monday.
