Namibia names 25-player squad ahead of U20 Barthes Rugby Tournament

WINDHOEK, April 8 (Xinhua) -- The Namibia Rugby Union Monday evening unveiled its Under-20 Men's Rugby Team for the upcoming Barthes Trophy Tournament in Zimbabwe's capital city Harare.

Scheduled to run from April 18 to 28, the tournament stands as Africa's U20 championship, boasting the participation of eight teams.

Namibia will get the tournament underway on day two, when they face defending champions Zimbabwe in their opening fixture. The Zimbabwe U20 team has secured victory in the last two editions.

The following players were named to represent Namibia: Otja Auala, Gianluca Savoldelli, Joshua Bester, Ian Klitzke, Jayden Van Zyl, Armand Combrick, Edward Drotsky, Ferion Beukes, William Lottering, Matthew Quinn, JP Campbell, Arenzo Isaacs, Kistings Minyoi, Mchenry Kambatuku, Walter Otto, Ben Burger, Denver Beukes, JD Rossouw, Michael Koopman, Van der Merwe Tromp, Xavier Mouton, JP Van Wyk, SG Maritz, Jurgens Meyer, and Liam Dick.

The winner of the tournament earns the qualification for the 2024 World Rugby U20 Trophy. This year, the spotlight falls on Scotland, marking the first time the event will grace the Edinburgh Rugby Stadium. Enditem
