YANGON, April 9 (Xinhua) -- A project completion ceremony was held in Nay Pyi Taw for the technical cooperation of veterinary vaccine production among Lancang-Mekong countries for transboundary animal diseases and zoonoses, the official media the Global New Light of Myanmar reported on Tuesday.

This project, funded by the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) special fund 2021, was implemented by the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, the report said.

The project aimed to produce vaccines for infectious diseases that can be transmitted between animals and humans, including capacity-building activities.

Furthermore, it facilitated the establishment of emergency vaccine storage, laboratory network systems, and two medical laboratory animal units in Nay Pyi Taw to ensure high-quality vaccine production and proper care of medical test animals.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation announced the commencement of the fourth Mekong-Lancang special fund project in November 2021, which was successfully completed in March 2024, the report said. Enditem
