KIEV, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian drones attacked an aviation training center in Russia's western Voronezh region early Tuesday, Ukrainian and Russian media reported.

"The drones of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate attacked the Borisoglebsk aviation training center in the Voronezh region at night," a source in military intelligence told the government-run Ukrinform news agency.

The preliminary intelligence data showed that a manufacturing facility at the 711 aircraft repair plant, part of the center, was hit, it said.

Ukraine attacked the center with two drones, according to Ukraine's online newspaper Ukrainska Pravda.

Authorities in the Voronezh region said that air defense systems had downed two drones overnight, with unconfirmed reports saying that a flight training school was damaged, according to Russian English-language newspaper The Moscow Times.

Earlier in the day, governor of the Voronezh region, Alexander Gusev, said a drone had been detected and destroyed in the region. Enditem
