TEHRAN, April 9 (Xinhua) -- At least five policemen were killed and two others injured Tuesday in a "terrorist" attack in the southeastern Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchestan, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported.

The incident occurred on a road between Mehrestan County and Sib and Suran County when gunmen attacked two police cars that were carrying a main suspect behind the assassination of an Iranian policeman in March, the report said.

It noted that the Jaish al-Zulm "terrorist" group had claimed responsibility for the deadly attack, which was also confirmed by the Iranian police.

Jaish al-Zulm, designated as a terrorist entity by Iran, has been involved in numerous attacks against Iranian security forces and civilians in recent years, including one in Sistan and Baluchestan province last week, in which 16 security personnel were killed. Enditem
