JERUSALEM, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Israel's military stated on Tuesday that it had targeted a Syrian army infrastructure utilized by the Lebanon-based Hezbollah militant group.

A video footage released by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) depicted a strike on a building in an undisclosed location in Syria.

The IDF said in a statement the strike was based on "precise intelligence" that indicated that the structure was used by Hezbollah, an Iran-backed armed group and political party.

"The IDF holds the Syrian regime accountable for all activities which take place within its territory and will not allow for any attempted actions which could lead to the entrenchment of Hezbollah on the Syrian front," the statement read.

Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in cross-border fighting since Oct. 8, 2023. Enditem
