Israel's Maccabi Ramat Gan signs former CBA player Omot

JERUSALEM, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Super League side Maccabi Ramat Gan on Tuesday announced in a statement the signing of forward Anunwa Omot, who most recently played for the Ningbo Rockets of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).

The 29-year-old South Sudanese-American joined the Rockets in February of this year, and until the end of the regular season, which finished last Saturday, where he played 11 games, averaging 25.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

He played college basketball at Concordia University, Indian Hills, and Baylor, while his European career includes teams in North Macedonia, the Netherlands, Türkiye, Poland, Germany, and France.

Omot also played for Egyptian club El Ahly, leading the team to their first Basketball Africa League (BAL) title in May last year. He was named MVP of both the season and of the final game, in which El Ahly beat AS Douanes of Senegal in Kigali, Rwanda.

Omot's new team Ramat Gan is currently ranked third in the Israeli league with a 15-6 win-loss record, behind Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv. Enditem
