RIO DE JANEIRO, April 9 (Xinhua) -- German Cano scored a second-half winner as defending champions Fluminense continued their unbeaten start to the Copa Libertadores season with 2-1 home victory over Colo-Colo on Tuesday.

The Brazilian side took the lead in the fifth minute at the Maracana stadium through Marquinhos Alencar, who fired into the top-left corner after combining with Jhon Arias.

Guillermo Paiva equalized for the Chilean side when he latched onto Leonardo Gil's pass to nod home from close range.

Marquinhos then turned provider as he delivered an inch-perfect cross for Cano, whose header left goalkeeper Brayan Cortes with no chance.

The visitors ended the match with 10 men after defender Erick Wiemberg received his second yellow card for a rash challenge eight minutes from time.

The result leaves Fluminense top of Group A with four points from two matches, a point ahead of second-placed Colo-Colo.

"They tried everything to make things difficult for us," Fluminense manager Fernando Diniz told reporters after the match. "We had difficulty dealing with their high defensive line at the start of the game.

"But we became more composed as the game progressed. We had chances to score more goals in the second half but we didn't and the game became dangerous."

In other Copa Libertadores fixtures on Tuesday, Estudiantes won 2-1 at home to The Strongest, Huachipato prevailed 2-0 at Gremio, Club Libertad won 3-0 at home to Tachira and Junior Barranquilla were held to a 1-1 home draw by Universitario. Enditem
