GAZA -- Three sons of the head of the Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh were killed Wednesday in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza City, Hamas' media office said in a statement.

Haniyeh's sons, along with several of his grandchildren, were killed in a car at Al-Shati refugee camp in the city. (Palestine-Israel-Hamas)

BRUSSELS -- The European Parliament approved on Wednesday a new Migration and Asylum Pact that will tighten border procedures and ask the European Union (EU) member states to share responsibility.

The adoption of the pact aimed to tackle irregular migration to the EU, strengthen the protection of the EU's external borders and reform the European asylum system, the Parliament announced in a press release. (EU-migration-new pact)

PARIS -- At least one person was confirmed dead and another one seriously injured in a knife attack Wednesday evening in Bordeaux, southwestern France, according to the French newspaper Le Figaro.

The attack took place at around 8 p.m. in the Miroir d'Eau area, near the Gironde city center. A man was seen slashing two people with a knife. A source with local police said it was assumed to be a brawl. (Knife attack-France)

TEHRAN -- Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on Wednesday exchanged views on Israel's deadly attacks against Gaza and Iran's consulate in Syria, according to a statement on the website of the Iranian president's office.
