RIGA, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina temporarily took over the role of foreign minister from Thursday, after the Baltic country's top diplomat Krisjanis Karins stood down on Wednesday.
Karins tendered resignation at the end of March after several months of public criticism over private flights he and his team used for working trips when he was serving as prime minister.
Latvia's ruling New Unity party, which is expected to nominate the next foreign minister, still has not named the candidate. Silina told reporters on Monday that the discussion on potential ministerial candidates is still ongoing within the party. Enditem
