TEHRAN, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud have exchanged views on the latest developments of bilateral ties and regional affairs.
In a phone call on Wednesday, the Iranian foreign minister hailed the two countries' progressing bilateral relations, reaffirming Iran's determination to further expand their ties, according to a statement released by the Iranian Foreign Ministry on Thursday.
The Saudi foreign minister, for his part, highlighted the necessity to promote regional and international relations and cooperation between the two countries.
The ministers also addressed the situation in Gaza, underscoring the urgency to halt the hostilities in the Palestinian territory and alleviate the suffering of its inhabitants, the statement said.
On March 10, 2023, in a joint statement released with China in Beijing, Saudi Arabia, and Iran announced an agreement to reopen their embassies and diplomatic missions within two months, marking a milestone in the thawing of their relations. Enditem
