7 killed in north Afghanistan road accident

KABUL, April 11 (Xinhua) -- At least seven commuters lost their lives and three others were injured following a road accident in northern Afghanistan's Takhar province on Thursday, according to local media outlet Ariana News.

The mishap occurred when a vehicle veered off the road and overturned in a water pond in the Warsaj district of the province, leaving seven commuters, including three women and two children, dead and three others injured, it reported.

According to Afghanistan's General Directorate of Traffic Police, more than 1,600 people have been killed and more than 4,000 others injured due to road accidents over the past 10 months. Enditem
