VIENTIANE, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith has extended best wishes to people from all walks of life across the country, as well as Lao expatriates abroad and foreign expatriates in Laos, on the occasion of the Lao New Year.

The Lao New Year is the most important festival in the Lao calendar and also a time of endless fun for the Laotians, which will be celebrated from April 14 to 16.

Thongloun praised the spirit of national ownership, solidarity and the efforts the entire Lao people have upheld and dedicated to implementing the policies and measures of the Party and government over the past year, Lao national TV reported on Friday.

He wished everyone happiness and good health and hoped that they would welcome the new year joyfully, with good fortune, and in safety.
