India's anti-terror agency arrests 2 men in Bengaluru cafe blast case

NEW DELHI, April 12 (Xinhua) -- India's anti-terror agency the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Friday said it has arrested two men who plotted and executed last month's blast at a popular eatery in the southern city of Bengaluru.

According to officials, the duo was arrested from Kanthi in West Bengal's East Midnapore district.

"Mussavir Hussain Shazeb and Abdul Matheen Taha were caught after a joint operation by central intelligence agencies and police from West Bengal, Karnataka, Telangana, and Kerala," a statement issued by NIA to local media said.

NIA said Shazeb is the accused who placed the improvised explosive device at the cafe and Taha was the mastermind behind the planning and execution of the blast.

The low-intensity blast that went off at Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru during the lunch hour on March 1 injured 10 people. Enditem
