ULAN BATOR, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Strong winds and heavy dust storms are hitting parts of Mongolia, causing poor visibility on roads, the country's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said Saturday.

The strong winds and dust storms are sweeping across central Mongolia including the national capital Ulan Bator, provinces of Arkhangai and Uvurkhangai, and southern Gobi provinces of Umnugovi, Dundgovi and Dornogovi, with wind speeds up to 26 m per second, NEMA said in a statement.

The inclement weather is expected to continue through the weekend, the agency said, urging the public, especially nomadic herders and drivers, to take extra precautions against possible disasters.

Mongolia has a harsh continental climate as strong winds and dust storms are common during the spring. Enditem
