KABUL, April 13 (Xinhua) -- More than 80,000 security cameras earlier installed in Afghanistan's capital city of Kabul have been working effectively to help fight crime, local TV TOLOnews has reported.

"In central Kabul, approximately 80,000 security cameras have been installed at various central locations, busy and critical points, which have had a positive effect," Abdul Matin Qani, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior Affairs, was on Friday quoted as saying.

"With these cameras, we have been able to arrest criminals or prevent certain incidents in a timely way," the official said.

Qani said the Afghan caretaker government is making efforts to install more security cameras in other provinces of the Asian country, according to the report. Enditem
