ISLAMABAD -- Eleven people were killed and four others injured as militants killed passengers of several vehicles in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, officials said on Saturday.

The incident happened at around 7:00 p.m. local time (1400 GMT) on Friday when the militants hoisting flags of the banned outfit Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) on their motorbikes blocked a highway in Nushki district of the province, official sources from the district told Xinhua. PHNOM PENH -- A Cambodian Mine Action Center (CMAC)'s expert team has found a war-left U.S.-made MK-82 aerial bomb in the Mekong River in southern Kandal province, a mine clearance chief said on Saturday.

CMAC's director-general Heng Ratana said the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) expert team discovered the bomb and safely removed it on Friday. (Cambodia-U.S.-Bomb)

SYDNEY -- Six people were killed in a knife attack at a shopping center in Australia's Sydney on Saturday and the attacker was shot dead by police, police said.

It has been confirmed the man fatally stabbed six people in the Westfield Bondi Junction shopping center before he was shot, New South Wales (NSW) Police said in a media advisory. (Australia-Sydney-Knife Attack)

COLOMBO -- Sri Lankan rupee has emerged as a top-performing currency among emerging markets in the first quarter of 2024, boasting a remarkable spot return of over 7 percent, the President's Media Division (PMD) said on Saturday citing Bloomberg market data.

The Sri Lankan currency has gained against the U.S. dollar during recent weeks. The indicative rate of the U.S. dollar against the Sri Lankan rupee reached the 300 rupee level earlier this month for the first time since June 13 last year, according to data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
