ULAN BATOR, April 14 (Xinhua) -- At least 32 families lost their homes in the southern Mongolian province of Umnugovi due to strong winds and dust storms that hit southern Gobi provinces and central areas of the country on Saturday, the provincial emergency management department said Sunday.
In addition, roofs of more than 20 private and public buildings were ripped off in the storms, with wind speed up to 34 meters per second (122.4 km per hour), the emergency department said in a statement.
Meanwhile, strong winds, dust storms and blizzards are hitting the eastern provinces of Sukhbaatar, Khentii and Dornod, the National Emergency Management Agency said Sunday, urging the public, especially nomadic herders and drivers, to take extra precautions against possible disasters. Enditem
