KABUL, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan has exported over 2,500 tonnes of pine nuts worth 27 million U.S. dollars in the past 12 months, local media reported Sunday.

Most of the dry fruits were exported to Afghanistan's trade partners, including China, Pakistan, India, and the United Arab Emirates, local media outlet TOLOnews quoted Akhundzada Abdul Salam Jawad, spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, as saying.

Afghanistan's pine nuts, which mainly grow in its eastern forests, are regarded as one of the most valuable export goods of the war-ravaged country.

Afghanistan reportedly exports 10,000 tonnes of pine nuts annually to its neighbor China. Enditem
