Belgium, Morocco to strengthen partnership

RABAT, April 15 (Xinhua) -- The 3rd meeting of the Moroccan-Belgian High Joint Partnership Commission kicked off in Rabat on Monday, with both sides pledging to strengthen their partnership, the official news agency MAP reported.

In a speech at the opening, visiting Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo referred to Morocco as a leading strategic partner, stressing that the two countries "are linked by long-standing, strong and diverse relations."

The meeting confirms "the common will to raise the relationship between the two countries to its full potential," said the Belgian prime minister, adding that Belgium is committed to promoting partnership between Morocco and the European Union at all levels.

For his part, Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch hailed the cooperation between the two countries in areas such as transport, renewable energies and agribusiness, expressing appreciation for Belgium's support of the Moroccan initiative aimed at advancing regional integration among Sahel countries.

According to the report, a cooperation roadmap and two memorandums of understanding in the fields of green energy and the modernization of the judicial administration were signed between the two countries during the meeting. Enditem
