TOKYO -- Two burned human corpses were found Tuesday in a riverbed in Tochigi Prefecture, north of Tokyo, and police are probing the case as suspected incident of corpse abandonment, local media reported.

The bodies were found in a mountainous area dotted with houses, some 10 km from the town center of Nasu, Tochigi Prefecture. The identities and genders are not yet known, Kyodo News reported, citing the local police. (Japan-Burnt Bodies)

NEW DELHI -- At least 18 Naxals were killed and three members of government forces wounded Tuesday in a fierce gunfight in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, police said.

The gunfight between Naxals and joint contingents of the police's District Reserve Guard (DRG) and paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) broke out in Chhotebethiya area of Kanker district, about 264 km south of Raipur, the capital city of Chhattisgarh. (India-Chhattisgarh-Naxals)

KABUL -- Two children lost their lives and three others were injured in the blasts of unexploded ordnances left over from past wars in two provinces of Afghanistan, local officials said Tuesday.

MAPUTO -- At least eight people, including six children, died and two are missing in a shipwreck on Monday in Mozambique's district of Caia, the central province of Sofala, Radio Mozambique reported on Tuesday.
