ANKARA, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Türkiye sent Tuesday its ninth ship to the Gaza Strip carrying 3,774 tonnes of humanitarian aid, including food, baby supplies, sleeping bags, and gluten-free products.

The humanitarian ship, prepared by the Turkish Red Crescent, departed from the southern port of Mersin, according to the Turkish NGO.

"Our aids are not one-time or short-term. Our aid will continue until all the needs in Gaza are over. They are continuous aids," said Turkish Red Crescent President Fatma Meric Yilmaz at the send-off ceremony.

The vessel will reach Egypt's Al-Arish port, the closest port to Gaza, after a 40-hour sea voyage.

Türkiye had sent humanitarian supplies in 13 planes and eight ships after the Israel-Hamas conflict broke out last October.

Israel launched a large-scale military offensive against Hamas in Gaza in response to a deadly surprise attack by Hamas in southern Israel on Oct. 7 last year, in which 1,200 people were killed and more than 200 others were taken hostage.

The Israeli onslaught has so far led to more than 33,700 deaths and more than 76,000 injuries, as well as an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian enclave. Enditem
