NEW DELHI -- At least 18 Naxals were killed and three members of government forces wounded Tuesday in a fierce gunfight in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, police said.

The gunfight between Naxals and joint contingents of the police's District Reserve Guard (DRG) and paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) broke out in Chhotebethiya area of Kanker district, about 264 km south of Raipur, the capital city of Chhattisgarh. (India-Chhattisgarh-Naxals)

DHAKA -- A head-on collision between a bus and a pickup truck killed 13 people in central Bangladesh on Tuesday, a senior police official said.

The fatal road accident happened at around 7:00 a.m. local time (0100 GMT) in Bangladesh's central Faridpur district, some 101 km away from the capital Dhaka, Mohammad Morshed Alam, the district's police chief, told Xinhua. (Bangladesh-Accident)

SEOUL -- South Korea on Tuesday protested at Japan's renewed territorial claims to the disputed islets lying halfway between the two countries, called Dokdo by South Korea and Takeshima by Japan.
