SYDNEY, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Australia's opening ceremony uniforms were officially unveiled at Sydney's Clovelly Bay on Wednesday, with 100 days to go before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games kicks off.

Adorned with Australia's iconic green and gold, the designs were showcased by nine athletes, from reigning Olympic champions to those striving to make their first Games in Paris.

The models included men's water polo co-captain Blake Edwards, artistic gymnast Georgia Godwin, Tokyo Olympic beach volleyball silver medalist Mariafe Artacho del Solar, Matildas midfielder Michelle Heyman, Tokyo Olympic K-2 1000m sprint canoeing champion Thomas Green, rugby sevens captain Nick Malouf, 100m Australian record holder Torrie Lewis, Australia's inaugural Olympic breaker Jeff Dunne and water polo star Tilly Kearns.

As the centerpiece of the uniforms, the blazer includes the Australian Olympians' Oath on the inside jacket pocket, with the names of all 301 Australian Summer Olympic champions throughout the jacket lining.

Women athletes representing Australia in the Olympics can wear a T-shirt or a tank top with gold and green ribbing under their blazers. They can also opt for stone-colored chino shorts or a green and gold ombre pleated skirt to complete their look.

Meanwhile, the male Olympians will wear a single-breasted linen blazer over a T-shirt with stretch chino shorts.

Indigenous artworks "Walking Together" by Olympic boxer Paul Fleming and "Ngalmun Danalaig (Our Way of Life)" by Torres Strait Island artist David Bosun are also featured in the pocket square and scarf.

According to the Australian Olympic Committee, almost 1,000 prospective Team members and officials have been measured up over the past 18 months, to ensure that sizing is spot on for the eventual expected team size of 460-480 athletes.

"I have had the honor of receiving four Australian Olympic Team ceremony uniforms and I treasure each one. For Olympians, it brings us together, from different sports, backgrounds, and experiences, proudly uniting us through that Team uniform," said Chef de Mission of the Australian Olympic Team for Paris 2024 Anna Meares, also a former track cyclist who won two Olympic gold medals for Australia.

24-year-old paddler Green said that seeing his name on the lining of the Paris blazer was surreal.

"It's really special, being able to see other athletes' names of all the Australian champions, alongside your own name," he said.

"I appreciate it now, but in the future being able to point it out to family and friends that this is my spot on the jacket, it's really special. It shows so much thought went into the design as well," Green added. Enditem
