DOHA, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani said on Wednesday that the situation in the region was "sensitive."

The prime minister made the remarks in a conversation with Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu.

According to a statement released by Qatar's Foreign Ministry, the two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations and the latest developments in the Middle East, with a particular emphasis on de-escalation and promoting peace, especially in the war-torn Gaza Strip.

"The region is going through sensitive conditions and has witnessed escalation in different ways in recent days," the statement quoted the Qatari prime minister as saying.

He also called on the international community to take responsibility for halting the conflict in Gaza and emphasized the importance of refraining from using humanitarian aid as a tool for political leverage. Enditem
