ANKARA, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Türkiye has killed or seized 748 terrorists active in border areas with neighboring countries since January, Turkish semi-official Anadolu Agency reported Thursday.

According to the report, 331 were "neutralized" in northern Iraq and 417 in northern Syria, about 75 of whom were dealt with in the past two weeks.

Turkish authorities use the term "neutralize" to imply the terrorists in question surrendered, were killed, or captured.

The Turkish forces often carry out cross-border operations in northern Iraq against the PKK militants, especially in the Qandil Mountains, the main base of the group.

The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), listed as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the United States and the European Union, has rebelled against the Turkish government for more than three decades.

Since 2016, Türkiye has launched anti-terror operations across its border in northern Syria to prevent the formation of a terror corridor and enable the peaceful settlement of residents. Enditem
