CAIRO -- The Egyptian cabinet approved on Thursday the establishment of a special free zone to manufacture, maintain, and export marine yachts to meet standards on par with those of Europe and other international counterparts, according to a government statement.

The special free zone, named the Suez Canal Company for Modern Boats, will span 51,150 square meters south of Safaga town along the Red Sea coast, more than 500 km from the Egyptian capital of Cairo. (Egypt-Free Zone-Yacht)

SEOUL -- South Korean banks planned to ease lending standard in the second quarter due to an expected increase in demand for mortgage loan, central bank data showed Friday.

The lending attitude index stood at minus 1 for the April-June quarter, higher than minus 3 in the previous quarter, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK) poll of 204 banks and other financial institutions conducted from March 7 to 19. (South Korea-Lending standard)

MANILA -- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Friday said that New Zealand has committed 25 million U.S. dollars to the ADB Energy Transition Mechanism Partnership Trust Fund (ETMPTF) to support the shift toward clean, sustainable energy in Southeast Asia.

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysia and Amazon Global Selling are strengthening collaboration to enhance the development of cross-border e-commerce in response to growing demand from Malaysian businesses, a trade agency said Friday.

Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) said in a statement that the two parties will join hands to offer quarterly outreach events throughout 2024 to raise awareness of cross-border e-commerce and to help Malaysian brand owners start their cross-border e-commerce business with Amazon, while introducing more Malaysian brands and products to customers in the United States.
