NEW DELHI, April 19 (Xinhua) -- India's railways ministry on Friday said it will operate a record number of additional trains during this summer season.

According to the railways, 9,111 train trips will be made operational to ensure smooth and comfortable travel for passengers.

"To ensure the convenience of passengers and manage the anticipated surge in travel demand during summers, Indian railways is operating a record-breaking 9,111 trips during the summer season," the ministry said in a statement.

This year's trips mark a substantial rise compared to the summer of 2023, where 6,369 trips were offered by the railways. Enditem
