THE HAGUE, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Feyenoord secured the Dutch Cup on Sunday by defeating NEC 1-0 in the final held in Rotterdam.

The match took place in De Kuip stadium, which hosted 42,140 spectators. NEC, based in Nijmegen, delivered a strong first half, highlighted by a threatening header from Youri Baas and a disallowed goal by Tjaronn Chery due to offside.

The game experienced interruptions, initially a short pause in the first half due to reduced visibility from fireworks. Another stoppage occurred just after the second half began for the same reason. Once the match resumed, Feyenoord increased their pressure, and in the 59th minute, Igor Paixao scored the decisive goal with an assist from Santiago Gimenez.

Despite Feyenoord being reduced to ten men following a second yellow card for Yankuba Minteh, NEC was unable to leverage their numerical advantage to score an equalizer.

This victory marked Feyenoord's 14th Dutch Cup win, while NEC has now lost in their fifth final appearance. Enditem
