Afghanistan's dry fruits exports rise 20 pct on year

KABUL, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan exported dry fruits worth 466 million U.S. dollars in the Persian calendar year 1402 ended on March 19, spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Abdul Salam Jawad Akhundzada, said Monday.

"The total export of Afghanistan's dry fruits in the year 1402 increased by about 20 percent compared to the year 1401," local media TOLOnews quoted the official as saying.

The Afghan products were mostly exported to India, China, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Germany and Türkiye, said the spokesperson.

Fresh and dry fruits including pistachio, pine nut, fig, pomegranate, grape, raisin, melon and watermelon are the most popular products for export in Afghanistan.

According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Afghanistan's total export was estimated at 1.81 billion dollars in the Persian calendar year 1402, down 6 percent year on year. Enditem
