SOFIA, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Bulgarian President Rumen Radev on Monday signed a decree for the dismissal of Foreign Minister Stefan Dimitrov and the Minister of Agriculture and Food Kiril Vatev two weeks after they took office.

With the same decree, Georgi Tahov was appointed as Minister of Agriculture and Food, while the caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev would also serve as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radev's press office said.

The government reshuffle was proposed by Glavchev, it said.

Radev was obliged to approve Glavchev's proposal after recent amendments to the constitution, which suspended the President's powers related to the selection of the caretaker government.

Glavchev insisted on Dimitrov's dismissal last Monday, April 15, justifying it with "the need for timely and responsible coordination and communication between cabinet members, on the one hand, as well as with allies and partners, on the other."

On Tuesday, Glavchev proposed the replacement of Vatev accusing him of failing to fulfill his official duties.

Dimitrov and Vatev, like the rest of the ministers, were chosen by Glavchev, following the constitution amendments.

Glavchev's caretaker government took office on April 9, two months before the elections for National Assembly and European Parliament. Enditem
