ISLAMABAD, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani security forces killed 11 terrorists in two separate operations in the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, the military said on Monday.

The security forces conducted intelligence-based operations in Dera Ismail Khan and North Waziristan districts of KP, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, said in a statement.

During the first operation, 10 terrorists were killed after an intense exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists in Dera Ismail Khan district, according to the ISPR statement.

In a separate operation in North Waziristan, security forces effectively engaged the terrorists' location, killing one terrorist on the spot.

The ISPR said that weapons and ammunition were also recovered during the operations, adding that the killed terrorists remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces as well as innocent civilians.

The military said the security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country.

Last week, at least seven officials of Pakistan Customs were killed and several other people injured in two separate terrorist attacks in Dera Ismail Khan, according to police officials. Enitem
