JAKARTA, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia aims to score up to 400 billion rupiahs (24.6 million U.S. dollars) of EV transactions at the 2024 Periklindo Electric Vehicle Show to be held from April 30 to May 5 in Jakarta, an automobile expert said on Monday.

"We hope the transaction will reach 400 billion rupiahs because we provide more choices than the years before with many new brands. That will make people curious," said Moeldoko, chairman of the Indonesian Electric Vehicle Industry Association.

According to him, the EV exhibition will present at least 82 exhibitors consisting of various EV brands, both motorbikes and cars, from a number of countries.

He hoped that the EV exhibition would boost the sales of electric motorbikes, which had not been optimal despite the government's subsidy for two-wheeled EVs.

"This exhibition will expand education related to EV while narrowing the gap between the public's understanding of the technology," he said.

Indonesia is pushing for the transition to EV uses as part of the country's efforts to transform into cleaner energy. Enditem
