DAR ES SALAAM, April 22 (Xinhua) -- At least 13 people were killed, and six others injured on Monday after a minibus collided with a fuel tanker in the Somanga area of Kilwa District, Lindi Region, southern Tanzania, according to police.

John Imori, the Lindi regional police commander, told a press conference that 11 of the victims died on the spot, and two lost their lives while receiving treatment at a local health center, adding that the accident occurred at 7:30 a.m. local time.

Imori said the collision occurred after the fuel tanker veered to the other side of the road from where the minibus was shuttling along the Lindi-Dar es Salaam highway.

He said police were looking for the driver of the tanker, who disappeared after the accident. Enditem
