SAN FRANCISCO --A Douglas DC-4 airplane has crashed into a river in Fairbanks in U.S. state of Alaska on Tuesday, authorities said.

First responders were conducting an "active rescue" Tuesday morning after the plane crashed in the area of the Tanana River in Fairbanks, according to local officials.

Clint Johnson, Alaska chief of the National Transportation Safety Board, said it was not clear how many people were on the Douglas DC-4 when it crashed around 10:30 a.m. shortly after departure south of Fairbanks International Airport. (US-Alaska-Plane-Crash)

TUNIS -- The Tunisian Maritime Guard on Tuesday found five bodies of undocumented migrants on the southeastern coast, Tunisian radio station Mosaique FM reported.

It quoted a security source as saying that the bodies were washed ashore in Gabes. The source noted that the victims were probably sub-Saharan migrants who drowned in Libyan waters and were subsequently carried by sea currents to the shores of Gabes. (Tunisia-Undocumented Migrants-Bodies)

BAGHDAD -- Two Islamic State (IS) militants were killed on Tuesday in an airstrike in Iraq's eastern province of Diyala, the Iraqi military said.

Based on intelligence reports, Iraqi warplanes carried out an airstrike on an IS hideout in the Himreen mountain range in northern Diyala, destroying the hideout and killing all militants inside, according to a statement from the Security Media Cell, a media outlet affiliated with the Iraqi Joint Operations Command. BEIRUT -- Two Lebanese civilians were killed, and six others wounded on Tuesday in an Israeli air strike in Hanine, a municipality in southern Lebanon, Lebanese military sources told Xinhua.
