TRIPOLI, April 24 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) on Wednesday said that it supported the vaccination of over 460,000 children under the age of two in Libya in 2023.

"During the World Immunization Week, UNICEF Libya, with the Libyan Ministry of Health and the National Center for Disease Control, reaffirms its commitment to child health by supporting the vaccination of over 460,000 children under two across Libya in 2023," UNICEF said in a statement.

UNICEF also called on the Libyan government and donors to invest in enhancing the safety and quality of vaccinations, "ensuring that all children in Libya receive the life-saving benefits they deserve," the statement added.

Due to continuous armed conflict and political instability following the fall of the late leader Muammar Gaddafi's regime in 2011, Libyan authorities have been struggling to provide basic services for the people, mainly proper healthcare and education. Enditem
