JERUSALEM -- Israel's military announced that its warplanes and artillery struck about 40 sites in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, claiming they had been used by Hezbollah.

An Israeli military spokesperson said in a statement that the strikes were carried out in the area of Ayta ash Shab in southern Lebanon against Hezbollah targets including storage facilities, weaponry, and infrastructures. (Israel-Lebanon-Clashes)

SANAA -- Yemen's Houthi group on Wednesday claimed responsibility for launching three attacks, targeting two U.S. ships in the Gulf of Aden and an Israeli ship in the Indian Ocean.

"In support of the Palestinian people in Gaza, and in response to the American-British aggression against our country (Yemen), our naval forces carried out a military operation targeting the American ship (MAERSK YORKTOWN) in the Gulf of Aden, with a number of suitable naval missiles, and the hit was accurate," Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea said in a statement aired by Houthi-run al-Masirah TV. BEIRUT -- Hezbollah has launched 1,650 military operations against Israeli targets since the outbreak of the Gaza conflict, leaving more than 2,000 Israeli personnel dead or wounded, according to data released by the Shiite military party on Wednesday.

Hezbollah said that the operations used different types of weapons including 352 artillery shelling, 727 ground-to-ground missiles, 50 air defense, 55 air attacks, 77 sniper rifles, 546 guided missiles, 136 direct weapons, and 17 engineering weapons. (Lebanon-Hezbollah-Israel)

TEHRAN -- Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Tuesday criticized the European Union's recent decision to expand sanctions on Tehran.

In a post on social media platform X, Amir-Abdollahian said, "It is regrettable to see the EU deciding quickly to apply more unlawful restrictions against Iran just because the country exercised its right to self-defense in the face of Israel's reckless aggression."
